2022 marks the year where the cyber events industry bloomed back into life after a covid-induced hiatus.
Here at Origin Comms, we had the pleasure of being heavily involved in the promotion, PR, content creation and digital strategizing behind Infosecurity Europe 2022 – the largest information security event in the UK. Taking place between 21st and 23rd June, the event was a great success, seeing the cybersecurity community reunited in person once again. However, the preparation for the event began long before June.
The hard work began in September, when the initial planning began. Working closely with the events team, we brainstormed content themes and topics to centre the event around. Considering the manner in which the cyber community couldn’t be together over the last two years, we believed that community and unification should lie at the core. This is where the decision to centre the show’s theme around the concept of #StrongerTogether was finalised.
Initial Infosecurity Europe 2022 Preparation
From September, we begin to create a schedule of regular content. This includes everything from press releases, thought leadership articles, video and audio podcasts, and social media posts, building up momentum for the show. Liaising with not only Infosec’s event team but also the CISO advisory group, we were able to ensure that the content resonated well across all parties. Aligning the messaging through these meetings allowed for concise, consistent subject themes and tone of voice throughout. We felt it was important to incorporate high-level individuals who could provide an array of perspectives on how the promotion strategy for Infosec should operate.
As the cybersecurity PR agency for the event, it was our role to create an ongoing buzz around Infosecurity Europe 2022, despite it being months away.
Building Up To The Event
As the event approached, we liaised with hundreds of journalists and a range of analysts. This helped build the anticipation for the event and gave a flavour of what is to be expected. As Infosecurity Europe’s first time back since the pandemic, new cyber workshops being organised and the event’s first appearance in the London ExCeL, there was no shortage of conversation topics to be covered.
The team was also responsible for setting up briefings with the speakers and helping organise the press office at the event. With an extensive list of industry-leading speakers and a wide array of exhibitors attending Infosec, we were helping to represent a broad spectrum of information security figureheads. With this comes the need for clear, focused messaging across all channels, as well as an open line of communication with all involved. By drafting a selection of press releases, we gradually unveiled some of the event’s highlight features. Through this, a range of valuable press coverage was attained across various notable industry outlets.
In addition to building up anticipation for the event through an effective comms strategy, we also created the annual State of Cyber Security Industry Report. By surveying hundreds of CSOs, we collated a range of informative data that provides readers with insight into the current and upcoming trends within the industry. After drafting and finalising the report, we launched it before the show as well as pushing it at the event.
At The Event
At the event we ran the press office for all three days. The team managed journalist and analyst meetings with speakers and exhibitors at the event. We ensured that interviewers had a space in which to deep dive into the details of each speakers’ specialist area, without distraction. We also hosted an exclusive press lunch – a time for peer-to-peer networking over a delicious food selection. This included a one-to-one interview with the event’s new Hall of Fame inductee Jenny Radcliffe.
Our Roving Reporter was on the ground throughout all three days of the event, capturing interview footage of speakers and exhibitors. All of this insightful video content can be seen on the Infosecurity Europe YouTube page.
We also ran live updates through the event’s social media channels. This included interview snippets with exhibitors on their stands as and when they were happening. Live notifications regarding Keynote Sessions, exhibitor updates and the general positive atmosphere of the show made for an engaging stream of social content.
Our winning team has everything you could ask for in a cybersecurity PR agency. Unerring dedication, stoic compassion and a commitment to delivering the highest quality of work all lie at our core. Much like the theme of the show itself, we too are stronger together!
