As life continues to return to normality across the globe, it’s been a busy time for the cybersecurity and tech PR industry – and how great does it feel to say that again?
Last month, Origin Comms worked on the Infosecurity Europe 2021 event. For this project, we managed their PR and communications for the event, delivering the message that the conference has become a mainstay of the cybersecurity and tech PR industry, as it celebrates its 25th year of connecting the information security community.
A core theme from this year’s show was how cybercrime has not relented during the pandemic, in fact quite the opposite. The number of breached records had increased by a staggering 224% annually.
Our work with the Infosec team included supporting them with their PR and communications in the run-up to, and during, the event, as the governmental advice changed and evolved over the months, meaning that the event had to move from a physical event in June, to a virtual event in July.
In the lead up to the event, we produced and shared content, set up media interviews, generated news coverage, interviewed keynote speakers and exhibitors for ‘sneak peeks’ and insights, and shared these on the official event’s social media.
But we’re not the only ones enjoying a triumphant return to live, online and hybrid events. Across industries, we’re seeing some of the best and brightest minds in tech come together, either in person or virtually, to discuss the future of industry post-pandemic. That’s why below, we’ve compiled a list of some of the most anticipated tech events that you can attend in 2021!
London Tech Week
London Tech Week 2021 will be running from the 20th – 24th September 2021. This year the event agenda will be centred around how the industry recovers in the RIGHT way, by including a more sustainable and inclusive approach.
The week-long festival will make its content available online this year, despite also hosting some talks, roundtables and networking opportunities across the city.
Inbound
Inbound prides itself on community. Predominantly, this event is focused towards marketing & sales managers, customer success teams and users of HubSpot, however, a much wider range of people can find value at this conference, as they also focus some sessions towards general ‘business inspiration’. This year, none other than Oprah Winfrey(!) will be participating as a ‘spotlight speaker’.
This year, the three-day event will be running from October 12th – 14th.
Web Summit
Web Summit is considered the largest tech conference in the world, and is held in Lisbon every year. With many industries still experiencing a time of great uncertainty, Web Summit gathers together the founders and CEOs of tech, start-ups and even heads of states to understand exactly where the tech industry goes from here.
Web Summit 2021 will be running from November 1st – 4th.
Tomorrowland’s Virtual ‘Around The World’ festival
As an added bonus, we wanted to include this innovative edition of dance music festival Tomorrowland which took place in July.
In the summer of 2020, Tomorrowland were forced to cancel the 15th edition of their popular festival due to local restrictions.
Ordinarily, the festival attracts around 75,000 visitors a day. Determined not to be beaten by the pandemic restrictions, the organisers instead declared the inception of the first ‘Tomorrowland Around The World’ festival.
Around the World adapts to your local time zone, allowing people of all ages and places, worldwide, to gather and enjoy the music.
How You Can Join The Party
Not only do all of these examples show perseverance across the tech PR and event industry, they show that there is no need to worry that virtual or hybrid events can’t be as exciting and informative as your traditional in-person event. If you still aren’t completely convinced of the virtual event space, there are a number of benefits to bare in mind about the current hybrid landscape:
- How To Tap Into New Data: One huge advantage to this new trend, is the ability to gather data on your attendees, including attendance numbers, drop off rate, which were the most popular sessions and the click through rate of any email comms that you plan to send out around the event.
- Networking is More Alive Than Ever: Without the ability to meet in-person, more importance will be placed on networking opportunities remotely. Your virtual event can still be packed full of breakout sessions, Q&As or panel discussions.
- Underpin Your Event With an Enticing Keynote: Some things will always remain the same with event planning, regardless of the platform your audience have found it from. An enticing keynote speaker is still a an essential element of a conference, and now, you can share this keynote on a global scale with a virtual event to maximize your reach.
We think you’ll agree that event season is well and truly back, and there’s so much to look forward to still for this year, and beyond. If you have a conference or campaign that you need help organizing and promoting, or you are looking to break into the online virtual events space, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our helpful team who would love to talk about your idea and how we can help deliver on your key objectives.
