Infosecurity Europe 2022

What is Infosecurity Europe?

Infosecurity Europe

What was Origin Comm’s role in the event?

Origin Communications worked alongside the Infosecurity Europe team to deliver the hugely successful event in the wake of fading COVID concerns and logistical speedbumps. The Origin team supported the event’s PR and digital messaging strategy; planning press comms and content generation with exhibitors and speakers, whilst consistently planning and producing press releases ahead of time as well as social media content in the lead up to and throughout the event itself.

What did Origin Comms do?

Lead up to the event:

Planning Exhibitors

-The Origin Comms team put together a PR/Media kit for the exhibitor masterclass at ExCeL, London, which highlights all PR opportunities prior to the event, and on-site.

-The team worked with exhibitors to ensure they understood the criteria for the different opportunities, which included media introductions, on-site filming availability and inclusion in various content pieces.

-We provided a point of contact to answer PR queries with a response given within 36 hours, but typically on the same day.

-Origin Comms worked with exhibitors to schedule on-site interview opportunities with our very own Roving Reporter, all set up prior to the show.

Planning Speakers

-Origin Communications secured numerous media interviews and other opportunities for keynote speakers including Jessica Barker from The Telegraph, Kevin Jones from The Telegraph and Nitin Natarajan from PC Security Channel.

Press Releases

-The Origin Comms team attended CISO thought leadership gatherings to gather hot topics and themes in late 2021.

15 press releases were written, pitched and distributed around hot topics in the period of August 2021-June 2022.

-A couple of these press releases were written, translated and distributed across Europe to increase global exposure.

-Twitter polls were conducted to provide statistics and data reflecting conference themes and hot topics, or keynote speaker sessions.

-Approached key speakers and the advisory community to collect quotes for press releases.

-Scheduled, filmed, edited and posted video and audio podcasts to accompany topical press releases based on the twitter poll.

During the event:

Press Office

Media personnel were scanned on arrival and we responded to queries on-site, set up interviews, wrote, printed and provided daily media alerts which were very well received, updated TV screens with daily info, sourced images and biographies and any other requests.

Roving Reporter

The Origin Communications team contacted exhibitors prior to the show inviting them to have an interview with the ‘Roving Reporter’. We researched each company and sent them news and industry-relevant questions so that their PR team could prepare beforehand. We then planned a schedule with timings for each exhibitor’s Roving Reporter slot; sent diary invitations and liaised with PR teams and speakers.

The Roving Reporter achieved:

40 bespoke interviews with questions specifically tailored to each exhibitor, conducted over the 3 days at the show.

-Interviews edited and uploaded to YouTube immediately from the show floor.

-Testimonials for the show from each interviewee at the end of their Roving Reporter interview. We then pulled these out and used them on social media to promote the next year’s show which will take place at the ExCel in London from 20-22 June 2023.

Videos from the Roving Reporter are still being distributed across Infosecurity’s social channels. All feedback about their experience with the Roving Reporter was positive and each exhibit expressed their gratitude and thanks.

Social Media

Throughout the show the Origin Comms team ensured Infosecurity Europe’s social media channels were kept up to date and regularly checked. With fast editing of any images or videos, we were quick to upload show updates and promote the show in real time.

Press Lunch Interview

The Origin Comms team offered an additional draw this year with the goal being to encourage the press to remain on site during the event. To do this we hosted a press lunch and interview with keynote speaker Jenny Radcliffe – our first interviewee with the Roving Reporter.

The lunch that was held specifically for the Press in attendance at Infosecurity Europe, drew a range of press members and was an overall success. With lively conversations filled with tales from her vast and varied life as a ‘professional burglar’ and offering insights into her life and lessons learnt, Jenny Radcliffe gave the press unique access to a leading keynote speaker and Hall of Fame winner. This event also delivered extra content for YouTube and social channels which was shared by Jenny and the Infosecurity Europe audience.

“Our work on Infosecurity Europe runs from October, through to when the show takes place in late June. Behind the scenes, we have a team of eight, working constantly with Infosecurity Europe’s organisers to establish a PR and digital media strategy that addresses each element of the show, including exhibitors, speakers, media, analysts, the conference programme itself, the sessions and the other individual elements that are well-known at the show, such as the Hall of Fame and DCMS winner announcement.
