January 27th marked the arrival of one of the biggest tech charity events of the year – the White Hat Ball 2023. The Origin Comms team was thrilled to not only attend but also once again sponsor the event, hosted in the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London.
Bringing together some of the biggest names in the cybersecurity community – including members from our esteemed clients Infosecurity Europe and Menlo Security – the ball saw over 700 eager members of the tech and cyber communities come together and dress up to the nines to help a meaningful cause in the form of the NSPCC’s Childline.
The Event
Hosted this year by the charming Robert Lindsay, the event brought together tech industry leaders and charity representatives in an evening of fun, food and touching stories from a selection of guests.
Between courses of the delicious meal, attendees were treated to a number of different auctions. Prizes ranged from a signed shirt from football legend Pele to premium items of clothing to a weekend of luxury in some of London’s most prestigious hotels. All generously donated to help the cause.
The auctions built excitement, produced some big laughs and ultimately helped raise an incredible £230,000 for Childline.
Once the auction was over, guests were treated to a DJing masterclass from tech-oriented charity group Cyber House Rules. Needless to say, drinks were free flowing until the early hours of the morning and a brilliant night was had by all.
The Charity
Childline is an essential charitable cause that gives children a means of communication when they need it most. In this modern era of social media reliance and online bullying, many children and young adults are facing increasingly difficult times, yet feel reluctant to talk to those that they are closest to.
On average, a child contacts Childline once every 25 seconds. This shows not only how grave the situation is for young people living in the UK, but also the importance of the charity’s ultimate cause.
To be able to lend a helping hand in raising money for Childline was an honour and we were ecstatic at the total amount raised on the night.
