Contest attracts record number of entries from diverse information security businesses
Richmond, Surrey, UK, XX July 2021 – Online cybersecurity training provider CAPSLOCK has been named the UK’s Most Innovative Cybersecurity SME 2021, in a competition run by Infosecurity Europe in partnership with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) and technology trade association TechUK. CAPSLOCK is a revolutionary educational organisation which delivers affordable career-changing cyber training to help adults re-skill.
This is the sixth time the three organisations have teamed up to search for the nation’s most creative and original cybersecurity companies. The competition was open to small and medium business registered in the UK. This year’s record number of applicants were judged by a panel of three industry experts: Innovate UK’s Deputy Challenge Director Agata Samojlowicz CISSP, Global Transatlantic CEO Andy Williams, and Editorial Director of Infosecurity Magazine, Eleanor Dallaway.
As part of its prize, CAPSLOCK will present in the Cyber Innovation Showcase at the Infosecurity Europe 2021 virtual event, which runs from 13-15 July. In their session (Tuesday 13 July, 10:40-11:00), co-founders Dr Andrea Cullen and Lorna Armitage will explore how, through ground-breaking innovation and collaboration with UK cyber employers, CAPSLOCK is helping to solve the cyber skills gap and bring greater diversity into the field. Matt Warman MP, Minister for Digital Infrastructure, will introduce the presentation with a short speech.
The 13 SMEs selected by the panel as runners-up will all have virtual exhibitor booths on the online event platform: Risk Ledger, Security Alliance Limited, Senseon Tech Ltd, Conatix, Enclave Networks, ANGOKA, Red Sift, Polydigi Tech Ltd, NWPRO Ltd, BlockAPT Limited, IOETEC Keyless and Logically.

CAPSLOCK joins an impressive list of past winners of the UK’s Most Innovative Cybersecurity SME 2021 including Hack The Box (2019), KETS Quantum Security, Check Recipient (now trading as Tessian) (2017), Device Authority (2016) and Geolang (2015). Since winning the award online cybersecurity training platform Hack The Box has attracted Series A investment funding of $10.6 million to support its plans to establish its presence in the US and global market. It now has more than 500,000 platform members, and continues to introduce new products, most recently Hack The Box Academy which surpassed 250,000 visitors in its first three months.
