Finalists announced for UK’s Most Innovative Cybersecurity SME 2021

Competition run by DCMS and Infosecurity Europe attracts record number of entries from diverse information security businesses

Most Innovative Cybersecurity SME

Richmond, Surrey, UK, 3 June 2021 – Fourteen of the UK’s most creative and original information security companies have been selected as finalists in the Most Innovative Cybersecurity SME 2021 competition, run by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) in partnership with Infosecurity Europe. They are, in no particular order: Senseon Tech Ltd, Conatix, Enclave Networks, Risk Ledger, ANGOKA, Red Sift, Polydigi Tech Ltd, CAPSLOCK, NWPRO Ltd, BlockAPT Limited, IOETEC, Keyless, Logically and Security Alliance Limited.

This is the sixth time that the organisations have teamed up for the prestigious competition, which was open to small and medium business registered in the UK. The overall winner will be announced live at Infosecurity Europe, Europe’s number one information security event, organised by Reed Exhibitions Ltd, which runs from 13-15 July at Olympia London.

This year’s record number of applicants was judged by a panel of three industry experts: Innovate UK’s Deputy Challenge Director Agata Samojlowicz CISSP, Global Transatlantic CEO Andy Williams, and Editorial Director of Infosecurity Magazine, Eleanor Dallaway. Eleanor Dallaway said: “The high calibre of entries to the competition made selecting the finalists a tougher job than ever. It also proves that far from being stifled by recent challenges, information security SMEs have galvanised their efforts to help the UK stay ahead of emerging cyber-threats.”

The overall winning SME will receive top billing in the DCMS Cyber Innovation Zone at Infosecurity Europe, where it will be joined by the 13 runners-up, with all the successful companies having the chance to demonstrate their products and solutions in the Cyber Innovation Showcase.

Nicole Mills, Exhibition Director at Infosecurity Group said: “It was extremely exciting to see the broad diversity of businesses that entered this year’s competition – specialising in everything from protecting smart cities (ANGOKA) to passwordless authentication (Keyless). The work they’re doing supports everything Infosecurity Europe stands for: bringing together the people, ideas and resilience to protect our shared future. The future of information security in the UK is looking incredibly bright.”

Previous winners of the UK’s Most Innovative Cybersecurity SME include Hack The Box (2019), KETS Quantum Security, Check Recipient (now trading as Tessian) (2017), Device Authority (2016) and Geolang (2015). Since winning the award online cybersecurity training platform Hack The Box has attracted Series A investment funding of $10.6 million to support its plans to establish its presence in the US and global market. It now has more than 500,000 platform members, and continues to introduce new products, most recently Hack The Box Academy which surpassed 250,000 visitors in its first three months.

The DCMS Cyber Innovation Zone and Cyber Innovation Showcase at Infosecurity Europe will be the place visitors come to discover, scope and evaluate the newest cybersecurity technologies and solutions and get to grips with how they can be deployed. Businesses will showcase and demonstrate the exciting new products and services they have to offer through 15-minute presentations.

This year’s Infosecurity Europe 2021 event will combine both physical and virtual elements, with selected talks and discussions to be made available online. Registration is open here, and details on the complete conference programme are available here. The event will be run in strict compliance with COVID-19 guidelines, and more information is available here

In addition to the live expo in July, Infosecurity Europe will be running an exciting virtual conference from 8-10 June 2021, focused on rethinking and regrouping as the impact of COVID-19 continues to become apparent. The programme is designed to provide expert solutions to problems, stimulate conversation and ideas, and develop participants’ skills and careers. The full agenda is available here.
