It is fair to say that video is increasingly popular on social media. Posts with moving images generate more engagement, hold people’s attention on your brand for longer and help educate and tell the story in a succinct way. Having a good spokesperson or animated visuals help of course as does having a good product or message in the first place!
At a show like Infosecurity Europe, where the footfall is in its tens of thousands, being able to raise awareness of your company over and above other others is a challenge. If I were to give one tip to exhibitors, especially those starting out or in the innovation zones, make sure you make good use of the PR opportunities the show offers. Highlights product launches, demonstrations, or anything visual that excites the video journalist.
Who to put forward for your video interviews
When you have secured your video interview, make sure you have your best spokesperson available – the one who really knows your product, who can speak passionately and easily about the industry, what the challenges are and how your product can help that pain point. If you can try not to make it too salesy, but then again you want people to know your product is the best one.
When faced with the camera
Many interviewees, even seasoned ones, can get tongue tied and hit a wall of panic in front of a camera. Some liken video interviews to going to the dentist. I try and make people laugh and put them at their ease. I’ve done so many interviews that being confident myself is half the battle! Putting people at their ease is key.
When the camera is in front of you, be positive, talk clearly, smile if you can, or at least look positive and not miserable. Pep yourself up with a laugh if you can, and loosen your shoulders. Looking stiff in front of the camera can make what you say seem unreal or untrue. So focus on what excites you about your product or subject and why people should really, really know about it.
When you’ve got your video
Here at Origin, our team are excellent at turning around not just the edit but also getting it up online and sharing it to the world incredibly quickly. It’s all about team work. This is not a one person job. We communicate with each other all the time, let each know about breaking news, highlights of a session and quickly prioritise the best videos to share.
We love doing what we do, and know you do too. Make sure you engage the best team to support you visually online, helping you get your message out there and put you in the best light.
